The Foundations of My Practice
My professional practice is grounded in a lifelong commitment to learning across education, visual arts, research, and design. My academic journey has explored the relationships between creativity, learning, wellbeing, and educational environments. My research has examined the role of creativity in education, the use of art therapy across Europe, and innovative educational approaches from around the world. These interests have gradually converged in my current doctoral research, which investigates how the design of learning environments influences children's learning experiences with a focus on engagement and creativity.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, the New Zealand curriculum Te Whāriki, the outdoor learning philosophies from Northern Europe, and contemporary perspectives on learning and environment, I am fascinated by the ways space, relationships, and pedagogy interact to support learning. My studies and professional learning continue to shape my work with educators, schools, researchers, and organisations across diverse educational contexts.
